We understand that having password security is an important layer of protection of your valuable equipment and data, but this powerful protection feature can turn against you if you have forgotten the password and thus cannot access your system.  This problem can result in lost profits, missed deadlines, etc.

So, we decided to change the way of things to the better for you notebooks owners. We can remove any hardware-based passwords from virtually any notebook.

CompuPro Solutions Inc., specialists developed unique technology for password recovery. We can get your notebook back in business in only 48 hours.  That’s right. Turn around time – 48 Hours ! Excludes shipping time.  Applies to business days only.

Here are the types of Passwords we are able to help you with:

Power-On / User Password                                                    Price: Starting at $59 Can*

Required to boot the system.  In most cases, this type of password removal involves disassembling the computer, removing the CMOS / Backup battery and / or shorting a jumper, waiting a few minutes, and putting it back together. Some notebooks store the password in non-volatile memory (EEPROM).  In this case, removing the CMOS battery and waiting will have no effect.  Non-volatile memory retains the password for up to 100 years.

Please note: though it is a relatively simple procedure, please do not attempt to do it yourself unless you know exactly what you are doing.  You can void your manufacturer’s warranty or even cause severe damage resulting in expensive repairs. If you would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to ask, e-mail us support@compupro.ca

Notebook condition:

Before – your system does not boot (start loading an operating system).

After – your system boots properly**

**- Only if nothing was done to the system after the password has been assigned.  We only guarantee that no Power-On / User Password prompt will appear.

* - Toshiba Pentium / Pentium II based notebooks only.

Supervisor / Setup Password                                                 Price: $ 250 Can

Required to access the BIOS / CMOS setup program.  In most brand name notebooks this password is stored in non-volatile memory (EEPROM).  CMOS battery removal has no effect.  The solution is to access the EEPROM on the system board directly and clear the memory locations that contain the password.  This procedure requires specialized hardware that is used by our technicians to clear this type of password.  Our facility has all the necessary equipment to remove passwords from most brands of notebooks.  In some generic brand notebooks, the supervisor password is stored in CMOS and therefore can be removed by removing the battery, but most brand names utilize the EEPROM technology.  This is a one-time operation.

If later on you assign a new Supervisor password and forget it, you will have to be delivered to us again.  Standard fee will apply!

Be careful! Our technician employ methods that are virtually undetectable; however, we cannot guarantee that this procedure will not affect your manufacturers’ warranties.  You will be putting your warranties at a much greater risk by attempting to service your system yourself.

Notebook condition:

Before – your system may or may not boot, but you cannot access the BIOS / CMOS setup program (configuration)

After – your system may or may not boot, but you can access all BIOS setup options

Hard Disk Drive Password                                                   Price: $ 250 Can

Required to access any data on the hard disk.  This type of password will prevent you from using the hard disk even if you try to install it in a different computer.  Even if you don’t need the data, because read/write access is disabled until a valid password is provided, you cannot regain access even by attempting to format it.  Our technology involves overwriting the security data area of the hard disk, thus enabling access to the drive.  Please note: overwriting the security data also causes all the data to be lost permanently.  If you want to recover your data, we have developed a different technology that allows us to temporarily gain read only access to the drive.  In this case, the data is transferred sector by sector to a different media and only then the password is removed.

Notebook condition:

Before – your system cannot access the hard drive.  You can’t access any data on this drive even if you put in another system.  If you replace the hard disk, your system should boot properly.

After – your system gains access to hard drive but your data may or may not be accessible.  Performing a clean installation (format, install OS) should solve most problems.

Please note: We do not check the surface (media).  The drive may contain bad clusters.

Software passwords

Prevents you from accessing an operating system or specific data.  If data is not valuable, formatting and reinstalling the operating system and programs will remove this password.  Unfortunately, at the moment Compupro Solutions Inc  does not offer this service.

Please be advised!  We do not require proof of purchase but we will definitely check if the system was lawfully obtained.  Notebooks with serial number label missing will be declined automatically !

Is your notebook computer unusable because it is protected by a password?  Have you ever tried to get your system up and running by calling a helpdesk support people or notebook service gurus?

What was their answer? Can you recall? Something about changing your system board and hard disk drive.

I bet you can get another notebook just like this for less!!!

Below is a quote from an official IBM ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Manual:

“The supervisor password and the hard disk password cannot be replaced if they are forgotten.  If the customer forgets the supervisor password, the system board must be replaced. If the customer forgets the hard disk password, the hard disk drive must be replaced.”
